It's good to let other people know your life goals just in case they want to collaberate.

  • Write a lot more poetry and songs - Poetry should be expression that is unpretentiously recorded by the poet, directly from the muse. The muse is a somewhat ambiguous concept derived from ancient Greek mythology, theater, dance and poetry. In modern life I think of it as the Supersoul or Great Spirit either within us or passing through us when we are inspired. I make a deliberate effort to refrain from writing except when I "hear the muse." I don't like to force my pen. And sometimes when the muse is manifest, I am overwhelmed with so much to write that I cannot get every word of it down fast enough. And so I carry index cards and sometimes a tiny recorder. Of all my high art life goals, I regard poetics as one of the most important. No amount of success or failure could ever deter me from my efforts to write valid poetry. Thus I hope to write many volumes of poetry and poetic song for as long as I am blessed to live.

  • Write epic literature - I want to write just one major piece of literaure in my life. It is based on the lives of several children who were separated from their parents at an early age and had many incredible experiences ranging from dehumanizing tortures to damaged lives and death and the undying hope of redemption.

  • Make art films - I've been writing down occasional film ideas and concepts since the 1980s. With increased skills, financial security and decreasing electronic prices, this goal is coming into grasp. I think surrealism is my biggest interest. And contrary to some definitions, I believe that surrealism can be methodical. Film making in general is a very tough game. But if you have compelling visions, it's very hard to walk away from them. I think that films need to be artfully astounding whenever possible. They need to stun the mind. But more importantly, they need to reach the heart and soul. At this stage in life I'm just beginning to identify my taste in directors whose works I can study.

  • Become a studio recording artist -I'm too old to launch the major stage career that I regret not being able to start working on when I was a teenager. But I write some great theatrical styled songs. I just need to be able to make good recordings.

    • Work with musicians - I'm about ready to hire at least one musician in an attempt to create musical arrangements and/or do live performance of songs and poetry with music.

    • Set up a sound lab - My interest in setting up a sound lab is an aspiration to create some of the most high quality and unusual music samples possible via recording and manipulation. I plan to build up a huge bank of original sound samples. I plan to use these sounds in recorded poetry, song composition and art films.

    • Learn to play piano and maybe acoustic guitar - I plan to buy a keyboard and guitar soon. I should have learned this stuff when I was young. It would help if I could learn to compose my songs and perform them with music. I think piano/keyboard is ideal for a good songwriter.

  • Get involved in theater - My main interest is to get my theatrical songs into plays at respectable theaters. I'm also dabbling with playwriting although I prefer scrrenwriting. I have some play ideas inlcuding a comedy about a preacher who preaches in public, draws scrutiny and endures harassment because of his manic zeal.

  • Work the New York creative scene - Starting real soon, I plan to make many visits to New York City and eventually may want to live there for awhile if I can land the right place to live. My main interests in New York are poetry, urban photography, unusual human portraits odd human photojournalism and art films.

  • Build my own home and make it into a writer/photographer's paradise. My vision for my first self-built home calls for a few acres in the mountains or on rural land although I may later live elsewhere. I want thick castle-style walls made of rocks, a massive thick castle door made of steel and timber, passive solar windows, heavy insulation, gardens, greenhouses, and a large kitchen.

  • Learn foreign languages - I've long wanted to learn at least a little French because many of my favorite cultural interests pertain to colorful figures from the past. And my mother is a French citizen in America. But she never had anyone to speak French with her and I never learned the language. I also wouldn't mind learning some Spanish and Italian.

  • Work in Europe - I hope to have a chance to work in Europe for many years. I'd like to do a lot of photography and filming in France, especially in Paris and possibly other places including Spain and Amsterdam

  • Start a nonprofit vegetarian restaurant - This is a very difficult and expensive goal. Before I'm really old, I hope to create a nonprofit organization to build one restaurant that might hopefully branch out to become many. The concept of nonprofit means that it might bring greater public support. With the exception of volunteers, all long term workers would receive a salary. The food would be stupendously excellent. Meals would be very filling and healthy. The environment would celebrate animals in photography, art and programs. The goal would be to promote vegetarianism. All profits would remain in the business. All discarded fresh food would go to feed the homeless or disabled. The restaurant would be funded by meal prices and philanthropy with full accountability. It would also serve as a cabaret for performance.
